Bandit Camp Guide

Bandit Camp is the wild alternative to the Outpost. Like the Outpost, it's a safe zone where weapons don't work and PvP is disabled. But unlike the Outpost's organized trading, Bandit Camp has a gambling culture. This is where players come to risk their scrap on the spinning wheel for a chance at bigger returns.

The Gambling Wheel

The centerpiece of Bandit Camp is the gambling wheel. You can wager scrap on a spin that lands on various multipliers. Land on a high multiplier and you'll double or triple your scrap. Land poorly and you'll lose your bet entirely. The wheel is pure chance, making it one of the riskiest ways to spend scrap, but also one of the fastest ways to generate large amounts if luck is on your side.

Most experienced players avoid gambling entirely, treating it as entertainment rather than profit. The house always wins in the long run, but the allure of a big payout keeps the wheel constantly spinning.

Important

Never gamble more scrap than you can afford to lose. Treat the wheel as entertainment, not as a farming strategy. The odds are designed to favor the house.

Shops and Vendors

Like the Outpost, Bandit Camp has vending machines for buying and selling items. You can trade components, ore, and scrap for weapons, tools, and ammunition. The prices and available items differ from the Outpost, so it's worth checking both locations when buying or selling.

Drone Marketplace

The drone marketplace is a unique feature allowing players to buy and sell drones. This is the primary location for drone trading in Rust. If you're looking to pick up a drone for reconnaissance or cargo delivery, this is where deals happen.

Recyclers

Two recyclers are available at Bandit Camp, positioned for easy access from the main trading area. Like the Outpost, these let you break down unwanted components into raw materials. The advantage of Bandit Camp recyclers is that they're often less crowded than the Outpost, especially during peak hours.

Research Table and Crafting

A research table is available here for learning blueprints. The crafting benches let you construct items and manage your inventory. This makes Bandit Camp a viable alternative hub to the Outpost if you're already nearby or trying to avoid the Outpost crowds.

Guard Mechanics

Armed bandits patrol Bandit Camp. They don't attack unprovoked players, but if you become hostile to the camp through aggressive behavior, they'll shoot on sight. This is the same system as the Outpost, ensuring the safe zone remains peaceful.

Avoid attacking other players or the bandits themselves. A single wrong move turns the entire camp hostile. The guards are accurate and numerous, making resistance futile.

When to Visit Bandit Camp

Visit Bandit Camp for drone deals, alternative vendor prices, and a change of scenery from the Outpost. Some players prefer the layout and less crowded recyclers here. If you're farming scrap and want to check alternative vendor prices before committing your resources, Bandit Camp should be on your route.

The gambling wheel is tempting but statistically losing. Visit if you want to gamble for entertainment, but don't rely on it for progression. Farming monuments and trading at vendors is a far more reliable way to accumulate scrap.

Strategy

Check both the Outpost and Bandit Camp vendor prices before making major purchases. Sometimes one location has better rates than the other for specific items.
