Rust+ is the official companion app for Rust, available on iOS and Android. It connects to your server and lets you monitor your base, receive alerts, control smart devices, and communicate with your team from your phone without being logged into the game. For clans playing multiple servers, Rust+ is essential infrastructure.

Setting Up Rust+

Download the Rust+ app from your platform's app store and sign in with your Steam account. To pair with a server, be in-game and open the in-game Rust+ pairing menu. Accept the pairing notification on your phone. You can pair with multiple servers but actively monitor one at a time. Each server pairing requires independent authorization.

Once paired, the app shows your server's map, player positions, and connected smart devices. Use this to stay updated without being logged in.

Smart Alarms

Smart Alarms send a push notification to your phone when they receive power. The standard setup is an HBHF sensor wired to a Smart Alarm. When an unauthorized player enters the sensor range, power flows to the alarm and your phone gets a notification. You can place multiple sensors in different areas with differently named alarms to identify exact breach locations.

Smart Alarms are the primary passive defense tool. They alert you instantly to raids or intrusions even if you are not logged in. Place one on your main door, roof, windows, and critical interior rooms. The alerts give you seconds to log in and defend.

Smart Switches

Smart Switches can be toggled remotely through the Rust+ app. You can turn base lights on before logging in, activate turrets, or power up components from your phone. If you get an alarm notification, you can remotely activate defensive systems through a smart switch. Wire the switch into your electrical circuit and pair it with the app the same way as alarms.

Smart Switches are force multipliers for online defense. Activate lights to see raiders. Toggle turrets on before log-in. Power up additional defenses remotely. Smart switches give you tactical advantages without being physically logged in.

Storage Monitor

The Storage Monitor is a device you attach to a Tool Cupboard or Large Wood Box. Once paired with Rust+, it lets you see contents remotely. Attaching one to your TC is highly recommended so you can check upkeep timers and resource levels without logging in. If your upkeep is running low, you know to get online before decay starts.

Storage Monitors transform base management from reactive to proactive. Check your resources before logging in. Plan raid timing around upkeep. Coordinate supply runs with teammates.

Team Chat

Rust+ includes a team chat that lets you communicate with teammates through the app. Messages sent through the app appear in in-game team chat, and in-game messages appear in the app. This is useful for coordination when not everyone is online: discussing plans, alerting teammates to raids, or organizing sessions.

Team chat is a light alternative to Discord for quick in-game communication. Use it for coordinating immediate actions or short notices. Use Discord for complex strategies or longer discussions.

Map View

The app provides a map of your paired server showing monument locations and team member positions. This is a reference tool, not a live radar. It shows approximate positions with delay. Use it to plan routes and check the map without being in-game. This is especially useful for coordinating team farming routes.

Notifications and Settings

Customize notifications for alarms, chat messages, and alerts. Disable non-critical notifications if they spam your phone. Set quiet hours so alarms do not wake you during off-hours. Configure notification sounds differently for different alarm types so you can identify threats by sound alone.

Security Best Practices

Rust+ is secure as long as your Steam account is protected. Use two-factor authentication on your Steam account. Do not share your app credentials with other players. Revoke pairing on servers you no longer play. Rust+ access grants visibility into your base, so protect it like you protect your actual base.
