HQM is the endgame material for weapons, armor, and construction. Master every farming method and scaling strategy.
High-quality metal is the ultimate bottleneck for endgame progression. Every tier 3 weapon, every heavy armor piece, every advanced construction component requires HQM. Without steady HQM supply, you're stuck on tier 2 gear forever.
HQM is harder to farm than metal fragments. The ore nodes are rarer, the yields are lower, and you need specialized tools to maximize efficiency. But once you establish HQM production, you can equip your entire team with top-tier gear.
| Method | HQM per Hour | Setup Difficulty | Sustainability |
|---|---|---|---|
| HQM Ore Node Mining | 150-300 HQM | Easy | Renewable |
| Tier 3 Weapon Recycling | 100-250 HQM | Medium | High |
| Quarry Operation | 250-500 HQM | Hard | Passive |
| Tier 3 Monument Runs | 150-300 HQM | Medium | High Risk |
HQM ore nodes are rare and scattered sparsely across the map. They appear as whitish, crystalline rocks distinctly different from metal ore nodes. A full node yields 30-60 ore depending on node size.
One ore smelts to one HQM, so a full node gives 30-60 HQM directly. Find five nodes and you have 150-300 HQM ready to craft with.
HQM nodes don't spawn until day three or four of a wipe when initial tier 1 and tier 2 progression is underway. Map out node locations carefully. Mark them on your map and establish a mining route.
A jackhammer or mining pickaxe mines HQM nodes significantly faster than a rock hammer. The tool investment is worth it for consistent HQM farming.
HQM ore smelts 1:1 in furnaces. One HQM ore becomes one HQM using wood as fuel. Charcoal is produced as a byproduct during smelting.
A large furnace smelts HQM five times faster than a small furnace. If you're serious about HQM production, large furnaces are mandatory. A large furnace with 15 slots full of HQM ore produces 15 HQM every 5 seconds.
Set furnaces in temporary mining locations away from your main base. Furnace output doesn't drop when you log out, so you can return later to collect smelted HQM.
Tier 3 weapons recycle into massive HQM yields. An AK-47 yields 25-40 HQM. An M249 yields 40-60 HQM. A SAR yields 20-30 HQM.
Armor pieces are even better. Heavy plate armor recycled gives 60-100 HQM per piece depending on condition. A single raid looting five sets of heavy plate yields 300-500 HQM.
This is why monument running and raiding enemy compounds generate massive HQM income. You're not farming ore. You're stealing tier 3 gear and converting it into HQM at a recycler.
Use the Falcon Rust Recycler tool to identify which items give the highest HQM returns. Prioritize heavy, high-tier items. They're worth your inventory space.
Day one and day two, ignore HQM completely. You lack the tools and access to farm it effectively. Focus on metal fragments and progression.
By day three, HQM ore nodes start respawning in accessible areas. You're not farming them heavily yet, but you should know where they are. Mark 10-15 locations for future runs.
Day four onwards, you have metal tools and can mine HQM effectively. Start small HQM farming sessions. Aim for 100 HQM early-game to craft your first set of tier 3 armor or a tier 3 weapon.
By day six, establish a balanced HQM farming approach. Combine ore mining with monument running for recycled gear.
Morning: Mine HQM ore for two hours. Collect 200-300 HQM ore. Smelt overnight or during other activities.
Afternoon: Run tier 1 and tier 2 monuments. Loot gear for recycling. Prioritize high-tier items that recycle into HQM.
Evening: Recycle looted gear at a recycler. Convert gear into 200-400 HQM. Total daily HQM: 400-700 from combined methods.
By day ten, operate tier 3 monument runs regularly. Military Tunnels, Airfield, and Launch Site contain massive HQM yields from looted gear.
A single Military Tunnels run nets 200-400 HQM in recycled weapons and armor. Three runs per day from tier 3 monuments provide 600-1200 HQM before ore mining.
Quarries become viable late-game. A quarry running 24/7 produces 300-500 HQM per day passively. Combined with active farming, you're producing 1000+ HQM daily.
Quarries are autonomous production facilities that generate HQM over time without player input. Build one at your compound if you have space and electrical power.
Feed the quarry fuel and it produces HQM slowly but constantly. A fully fueled quarry produces meaningful HQM every hour. This is passive income alongside active farming.
Quarries are destroyed on wipe, so you only benefit during your active playtime. A six-hour session with a running quarry adds 150-250 HQM to your stock without any effort.
Military Tunnels, Airfield, and Launch Site contain enormous quantities of tier 3 gear. A single Military Tunnels pass generates 300-600 HQM worth of loot when recycled.
The danger is real. You need full radiation protection, combat gear, and ammunition. You can die. Your loot can be stolen. Only farm tier 3 monuments if you're confident in PvP or on low-population servers.
Military Tunnels is the most consistent tier 3 monument. Multiple passes per hour are possible. Airfield and Launch Site take longer but reward more loot per run.
Wood fuels HQM smelting. Stock wood before smelting runs. Each piece of wood burned produces one charcoal as a byproduct, which you should save for gunpowder.
Set up a charcoal production furnace at your mining location. Burn wood while you mine. You'll have charcoal ready when your ore arrives.
For clans, divide HQM farming into specialized roles. One player mines ore nodes. Another farms tier 3 monuments. Another operates recyclers and furnaces. Specialization multiplies output.
A well-organized trio can produce 1000+ HQM per day. A large clan with dedicated roles can sustain 5000+ daily HQM production, equipping everyone with tier 3 gear continuously.
Plan HQM usage carefully. An AK costs 20 HQM to craft. Heavy armor costs 30-40 HQM per piece. T3 weapons are expensive to replace if lost in combat.
Calculate your daily HQM demands based on team size and PvP activity. If your team needs 100 HQM daily for weapon and armor replacement, farm 150-200 HQM daily to maintain a buffer.
Don't farm HQM without mapping node locations. Random hunting wastes time. Map your nodes before starting production runs.
Don't use small furnaces for HQM smelting. Large furnaces smelt 5x faster. The cost is minor compared to the time saved.
Don't neglect tier 3 monument runs. Recycled gear generates more HQM than mining in the same time investment. Balance both methods.
Don't ignore quarries once you reach late-game. They produce free HQM passively. Build one immediately when you unlock the blueprint.
Once you master HQM farming, your team is equipped for endgame PvP and raiding. Focus on team coordination, base defense, and raid strategy. HQM supply is solved.
